Pogostemon Patchouli Oil Plant Rare Cablin Fragrant The Patchouli Oil Plant Rare Cablin plant is the source of the highest grade of patchouli oil. I find it just as easy to grow as the other varieties and generally has much larger leaves although it's growth rate is somewhat slower. The Patchouli scent is used in over half of men's high end perfumes. The dried leaves of the plant were packed with silk from China to prevent moths from laying their eggs in it. The association is believed by some to be the reason that it has been historically considered a luxurious scent. The plant is easy to grow prefering very warm conditions and little or no direct sun. Grows well inside where it will produce a desirable scent. Grows to about two feet or can be trimmed back with good results. Outside it should not be allowed to freeze. You will receive a well rooted plant growing in a 4" pot. |
