Alocasia California Gagaena Giant Elephant Ear Plant... These are one of the most cold tolerant alocasias known and thus make them a perfect choice for landscaping.
They grow to heights of 6 feet and leaves grow to approximately 24 inches long and almost as wide. The leaves are a beautiful light to dark green and have thick green stems that support the large leaves. This plant likes bright light but will do well in a shaded area also, but are slower growing in the shade. Full sun is recommended with plenty of water. This plant makes a great pond plant too. You can grow these in containers as long as they have good drainage as with any alocasia.
